How to Increase Traffic to Your Real Estate Website

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

So you have a website that features compelling content and interesting features. Now you need to work on increasing the number of people who visit your site. More traffic to your site means more clients, which of course leads to more money in your pocket. If you already have a website set up and want to become more competitive in your market, then you need to make your site more appealing to the search engines. Why the search engines? Because people who hunt for real estate online do so via search tools such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Search engine optimization or SEO for short, is a growing industry that is devoted to helping businesses succeed in reaching their desired clientele. SEO companies do this by making your website attractive to search engines.

In the past it was possible for a webmaster to simply insert a few popular keywords into their content and immediately rank highly on the search engines for those terms, regardless of what their site was actually about. For the most part however, this is no longer the case. Google in particular has changed its standards to ensure that the websites that display near the top of the search results page actually contain information that is relevant to what the user is looking for.

For instance, if a person searches for the words “Nantucket real estate,” the websites that appear on the search results page will be about buying and selling real estate in Nantucket. Just a few years ago, typing in those same keywords could take you to any number of pages that were totally irrelevant to what you were actually searching for.

Because the search engines have made it harder for websites to appear to be about something they’re not, it is important for you to make it clear that your site is truly about real estate. To do this is easy. Compelling content that talks about the real estate market you specialize in is the basis of any good SEO campaign. Quality information also enhances user experience and increases your chances of converting visitors into clients.

Aside from having solid information on the pages, you need to work on your meta titles. Meta titles are descriptions of what the page is about, and appear in the blue bar at the top of all Internet Explorer and Firefox pages. These titles not only let your audience know where they are and what the page is about, but they also tell the search engines what your site is about. If your meta title is left blank, you are making it very difficult for the search engines to classify your site, thereby making it nearly impossible for users to find you. By simply adding a title that represents the content of your site, you can greatly increase your traffic, which means a lot more exposure to potential clients.

For more advanced SEO techniques, it is a good idea to consult with a company that specializes in this kind of work. Because the search engines are continually evolving, it is good to have someone on your side who is keeping current with the latest developments and policies. In the meantime however, make sure you have good meta titles and real estate related content on all your web pages, and you will increase your site’s traffic in no time.

Taking Your Web Presence to the Next Level

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

As a real estate professional, you know the importance of utilizing the latest marketing strategies and technologies. If you already have a website online that highlights your areas of expertise and provides solid information that is useful to visitors, it is now time to start thinking about upping the ante on your internet presence.

In addition to making your site more search engine friendly, it is also wise to make your company known in places aside from your company website. Social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook have been around for a few years now, and are an effective way for people to reconnect with old friends, meet new people, and talk about things that interest them. Now internet savvy business people are discovering that these websites can offer valuable business networking advantages as well.

ActiveRain is a social networking site that is dedicated to the real estate industry. Here, realtors can post pictures, a biography, and talk about their skills and local market. As part of the deal, realtors can also include links to their company websites, which can bring a new stream of potential clients to their site.

These backlinks from social networking sites are not only valuable because they give users the opportunity to get to your site, but they are also seen by the search engines as validating your site’s authority.

Backlinks can also be acquired by having your own blog. A blog is like an article, but with a less formal tone. Blogs are rapidly growing in popularity because they are easy to use and give readers brief, interesting tidbits about a particular topic. All you have to do as a real estate agent with a blog is to talk about things that you’re interested in. Talk about the local real estate market, or about the real estate industry as a whole. You can also talk about news that affects realtors such as HUD regulations or new licensing requirements.

A blog is an excellent way for visitors to get to know you, and with handy backlinks leading to your site, it serves as a great marketing tool as well.

In addition to blogs, you can start writing articles about real estate. Simply write about a topic that interests you, and submit it to any number of article submission sites. If your article is well written and informative, other websites will choose to display your piece on their own website. This benefits you because at the bottom of every article is a mini biography about you, the author. As part of this biography, you can include links to your website that must remain intact in order for other websites to reprint your article. Thus, your name and your URL are exposed to a whole new audience; one that you may never have been able to reach before.

Internet Marketing - SEO Basics and Beyond

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Many people think internet marketing is just Search Engine Optimization, but on a larger scale. Even though internet marketing encompasses SEO there are many more factors involved. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a practice as much as it is a fast growing technology. The basics of SEO begin with website design and the way the HTML code is structured. Optimizing a website for high search engine rankings usually entails a long list of factors that must be calculated for the optimization to take full effect. SEO is still one of the best forms of marketing due to the characteristic of placing what the searcher is looking for
directly in front of them.

Other extremely important aspects of internet marketing work along with SEO including; blogging, social networking, forums, domain management, journalism and article writing, press releases, news media, interactive advertising, affiliate marketing, email marketing, viral marketing, and of course search engine marketing.

Each of these factors offer a large spectrum of tools to anyone who wants to practice internet
marketing. One of the first and most important factors of internet marketing would be SEM or search engine marketing. SEM basically encompasses ad delivery on large ad networks such as Google AdWords and AdSense. AdWords is a service offered by Google that allows you to create a small text advertisement and then submit it to Google on a pay per click rate. Google then inserts these ads into the websites on the Google AdSense network. When someone clicks any of these ads, the publisher or website on the AdSense network makes a profit. Also when someone clicks on the ad, the advertiser or owner of the original ad pays a small amount to Google and to the AdSense network partner. This method of advertising allows businesses and websites to advertise across a very wide platform and receive maximum coverage for their ads.

Blogging is also a very important factor for internet marketing and is sometimes known as the hub of internet marketing. Blogs allow internet marketers to discuss ideas, facts, topics, news, products, services and businesses directly on their website. A blogger posts an article to their blog, and visitors can comment on the post. The reason blogs work so well for internet marketing is because in SEO “content is king”. Blogs allow a site owner to post new content to their website easily, quickly, and effectively. Most blogs are structured to handle changes frequently much like the blogging platform of WordPress. Blogs are a great way for an author to discuss a topic at length and create an interest in the topic while simultaneously increasing their rankings for the key terms they discuss.

The other facets of internet marketing lend a hand to building a buzz about any given topic. The growth of internet marketing is truly astounding as new methods and means of communication become available every year. Internet marketers have to struggle to keep up with the frequent updates that are made to search engine algorithms daily. As long as information retrieval is a serious need, internet marketing will have a place to call home.

Keywords - The Backbone of SEO

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Keywords are 90% of a successful search engine optimization campaign. Users type keywords into a search box and submit the keywords to generate search results. The results pages are also known as SERPs or search engine results pages. These SERPs are generated for a keyword search because the keywords submitted are found on these pages multiple times, or the pages linking to this page contain these words.

There are so many ways to begin an SEO campaign, but my recommendation is to follow these simple steps:

1. Study the keywords and jargon associated with your specific industry.

2. Research the popularity of these keywords to see which ones you should use. I recommend using the free keyword research tool WordTracker.

3. Adjust the name of your website/business to work well with the new keywords you discovered.

4. Take the keywords you discovered in step 2 and divide them up among the pages of your website. It is usually best to target one key phrase per page with 2-3 maximum key phrases per page.

Take this series of steps and follow it rigidly when assembling your site for SEO.

What these steps will do is ensure that first of all you only use keywords that are relevant and targeted towards your niche. Secondly, you will determine what people are searching for online and what keywords are popular by using keyword research tools like WordTracker. You will then be able to make any changes necessary to welcome your newfound target keywords. Finally, you will determine the keywords a phrases for each page of your site and you will be able to lay out those pages accordingly.

Simply following these very simple steps puts you ahead of several competitors from the start.

Later we will discuss how to incorporate these keywords into every little nook and cranny of your website without doing black hat SEO techniques such as keyword stuffing or cloaking your keywords. These black hat methods can lead to terrible results, and in some cases permanent negative situations for your website or business.

There is one special technique that I highly recommend incorporating in your preliminary keyword research:

Long Tail Research: Long tail research is actually very simple, yet yields complex and powerful results. Lets say you own a car parts store online. You just opened up and you don’t have any visitors. One of the products you carry is an air intake for a 6 cylinder 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. You have a whole page devoted to this product, so you don’t want to use popular yet competitive terms like “auto parts”. Instead you should optimize this page with the details of the part and what it belongs to. You will receive less traffic through the page dedicated to the Jeep part, but if someone searches for “air intake 1997 jeep grand Cherokee” and they land on your page, they will be much more likely to purchase from you. This is called an increased conversion rate. Would you rather 1,000 visitors for the term “auto parts” or 100 buyers for the term “jeep grand Cherokee air intake”? I think you get my point.

Again, there are many ways to begin an SEO campaign, but I guarantee through experience that these are the best methods to follow.

Using SEO As a Powerful Internet Marketing Tool

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

SEO is not anymore new for all internet marketers. It is one of the basic things that must be kept and learned by each aspiring internet marketer. However, if you are not familiar with the basics of SEO, you will find difficulty in achieving your marketing goals.

Before focusing on SEO, the first thing that an Internet marketer should know is the search engines. Some of the widely used search engines are Google, Yahoo, and MSN. If you are searching something online, these are the first and only option. All you have to do is type the keyword on the search box. And when click the “search button”, you will be diverted to the page with the list of resources related to the keyword you typed.

Since search engines have been famous for all online users, Internet marketers think of it as one of the fundamental tools of acquiring consumers. That is where SEO started.
The birth of SEO has been considered as vital element on Internet marketing.

SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization is the process of creating web pages that has high page rank on the specific search engine result. It is done through optimization of some elements and section in the HTML section of every page. The ranking will be according to the level of website optimization.

There are different ways by which a certain webpage can be optimized. These methods depend on the type of website, contents, its purpose and the major competitors. Generally, SEO is highly dependent on the use of the keywords, title and the description of the website.

Most likely you’ll also wonder how SEO affect the ranking of your website. If you look for a word in the internet, you will notice that there are some highlighted words on the list of displayed resources. The exact keyword you placed in the search box is the one that is being used by the webmaster in optimizing the page. Though this might be not as important to that of the reader, it is as valuable as gold for the internet marketer who wishes to have their site rank on top of the pages.

The keywords place a very important role in a website. Such keywords will appear on title part of the webpage. Furthermore, the keywords that will appear in the meta description section should really describe the content of the site, its products and services.

Since SEO is keyword dependent, internet marketers should be carefully plan all keywords to be used. The main anchor text or keywords must appear on the first three paragraphs of the content. There’s a certain keyword frequency as to how many times the keyword should appear on the whole content. This will depend on the total number of words of the entire content.

But it is still important to take note on the proper usage of the keywords. For most SEO experts, the ideal keyword frequency is 3-5 keywords for 300-400 words content.

Maximizing of keywords is not advisable, since it may lead to redundancy of the content. And this may badly affect the quality of the content as well as the credibility of the site. A keyword that has the standard frequency will help on the optimization of your site.

Another thing to be considered in internet marketing SEO is the number of back links your site have. This is highly important because the spiders crawl through this links. Thus, this may help boost the ranking of your site.

These are just the basics of internet marketing using SEO as the tool in promoting your website online. SEO is undeniably a great tool in internet marketing. If you know how to handle it, you’ll surely be successful in your career.

How to Find Google Keyword Phrases

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Good keywords are the center of your pay per click marketing campaign. You will need these keywords to attract your prospects to your website. Finding good keywords is not as hard as you think if you know where to look.

The first way I find keywords is to find out where my prospects hang out online and offline. You have to understand that your prospects hold the answers to your keyword search. They talk about these keywords, write them and discuss them as well. If you are in the real estate niche, a first time homebuyer has concerns, and questions about real estate.

I would look for and visit a forum online for first time homebuyers and see what they are talking about. This will expose you to keywords that they use when discussing their concerns about buying a home.

Another way to find keywords is to feed off of a competitor’s research. You are in the wedding niche and sell a book for brides to save money when planning a wedding. How do you choose keywords for your Google pay per click campaign? Pick up the latest magazine on wedding planning from your nearest bookstore.

These magazines have already done the research and know what brides are interested in and want to read about! These magazines will give you tons of ideas for keywords. The content in the magazines cater to your target market so will give you keywords in your market!

These are two great ways to find Google keywords in your niche or market.

Understanding Search Engine Optimization

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I remember when I started to learn about search engine optimization, it was pretty tough trying to read and understand what the hell those “gurus” were talking about. I am pretty happy I didn’t give up!

Now that I look back at it, I don’t understand why they make it seem so tough. In this article I am going to attempt to explain how to optimize your website so you can benefit from tons of visitors online. The single and most important word you need to know to optimize your website is “content”.

It’s the driving force behind the Internet. Content simply means information in a specific field, it’s the reason people use the Internet; they are looking for useful information on a topic or matter.

The major search engines know this and their existence relies on it. You need to understand how to use it as well in order to meet your goals. You need to produce high quality relevant content in order for your website to be properly optimized for search.

One of the other ways to get brownie points towards optimization is to update your website content often, I would say at least 3 times per week. Your site needs to also be linked to related sites using the keywords your are trying to optimize for, this will also help in getting your website to the top of the search engines.

If you are interested in adding another brownie point from the search engines, you want your content to be unique, content that has never been shared online. Why would Google or any other search engine want to give out information that has been given out before?

They want fresh information to give their customers. Keep in mind that this will take time, your website will not reach the number one spot tomorrow but in due time you should get there if you follow the simple guidelines.

I wasted 17 months trying to drive profitable traffic to my website, but you should not do the same. Instead click here to get a copy of my “Quality Traffic Report”. Thursday, July 17th, 2008

One of the hardest things about effective SEO is getting the ‘mix’ of your on-page SEO right. Have one too many keyword phrases, and your site may be deemed ’spammy’ by the search engines.

Here are the fundamentals of top quality on-page SEO that will have you shooting up the search engine rankings pages in no time at all, all while creating massive streams of targeted traffic:

1. Your First Step - Optimize Your Meta Tags

2. Optimize Your Headings

3. Optimize The Keyword Density Of Your Body Content

Now let’s delve deeper into this system for creating search engine friendly pages:

1. Your First Step - Optimize Your Meta Tags

Your meta tags are one of the most important parts of your on-page optimization. Here are the meta tags you need to optimize: Page Title, Keywords and Description. All of these need to include the main keyword phrase you are targeting for high rankings.

2. Optimize Your Headings

Your web page should have at least one heading at the top of the page. This would be your page title. You need to change the ‘Font Style’ for your heading to Heading 1 as this will make your heading your prominent. Include your main keyword phrase in your heading.

3. Optimize The Keyword Density Of Your Body Content

Keyword density refers to the amount of keywords on your page in percentages. If you have a keyword density of 3%, that means for every 100 words on your page, 3 of them are your main keywords. Generally, you’d want to aim for a density of 3% to 5% to achieve the best results.

SEO Secrets - How to Generate a Flood of Fresh, Red-Hot Backlinks Easily

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

If have you have ever read a book on search engine optimization (SEO), then you would know that one of the key facets of any SEO campaign is to generate huge floods of quality backlinks to your site. The more quality backlinks (particularly one-way links) that you have, the higher your page is going to rank in the search engine results.

In this article, you are going to learn the deadly secrets of getting more backlinks than your competitors, and reaping the free traffic that is to come:

Step 1 - Install ‘NoDoFollow’ Tool

Search for the ‘NoDoFollow’ tool on Google. It’s a simple Firefox plug-in that allows you to see whether the site you are viewing is using ‘NoFollow’ in its attributes. Having this option means search engines won’t detect links on the site, and this will be useless for your SEO efforts.

Step 2 - Search For Forums In Your Niche

Find forums in your niche by using Google again and searching for your niche together with the word forum. See if the forums you find are using the ‘NoFollow’ attribute. If isn’t, then it’s time to head on to Step 3…

Step 3 - Post On Forums

Create a signature with an anchor text link back to your web page. Then start posting on the forums. Don’t spam the forums with nonsensical posts though, or you will be banned! Post sensibly.

Step 4 - Write Keyword-Rich Articles

Write articles that have your main keywords in them. What we are going to do is submit these articles to authority sites called article directories.

Step 5 - Submit Articles To Article Directories

Submit your articles to article directories such as the likes of Ezine Articles. Include an anchor text link in your resource box and you’re good to go.

Why Writing Good Content Helps Search Engine Optimization

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

In doing SEO, writing good material is probably the most essential element to keep in mind, especially if you want your website to be found on the internet. Although your site may be technically perfect so that the search engine robots find it, you will find that it will not help if the actual content of your site is not good.

Good site content needs to be factual and have correct grammar. It is not needed for every website that is available today on the web. However, what is important is that whatever your site is about, the content actually needs to be unique and specific so that it will appeal to people. In addition, it should be even more appealing to the audience that is looking for information and/or who want to find the site.

Good website content will encourage visitors to return, and those who do return will be more likely link to your site. Aside from your site benefiting, having a plethora of inbound links will also boost your search engine status. If the links have a higher ranking than your do, it is even better.

Additionally, the content on your website must be new as well as interesting. Readers will continue to visit to your website if you update and add new information on a regular basis.

Search engine robots are programmed to recognize changes so they will visit your site more often if you make frequent updates. Because of this any additional content that you may insert will be indexed at a much higher speed in the future.
